Barcelona centre-back Inigo Martinez is open to a contract extension with conditions amid injury concerns at the club this season.

Mundo Deportivo reported on Sunday that 33-year-old centre-back Inigo Martinez has the option to extend his contract by another year, subject to conditions if he plays at least 45 minutes in 60 per cent of Barcelona’s games this season. 

Inigo joins Barcelona on a two-year deal from Athletic Bilbao on a free transfer in the summer of 2023. He played at least 45 minutes in 19 games last season, with the 33-year-old centre-back having stepped up his game this term following injuries to Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen.
